About Us
Like so many great product ranges, the Egon and its Game-Changing Simplicity idea was the brainchild of two frustrated people. People who could see a need in a market, where something obvious was needed but had been ignored and passed off as unnecessary.
Heiner and Andrew were building 4x4 overland expedition trucks. For Heiner a mechatronics engineer, it was part of his business. For Andrew, these were tools used to explore and film the world's most remote places.
And the frustration was this: Why is, even out of top branded 4x4 accessory workshops, the quality of electrical installations so amateurish? Because, they concluded, that the expertise needed to do it well was not only a rarity, but considered not needed. The quality benchmark is, to this day, "It'll be alright." And it appears to be this way in every country in the world.
They decided to create a product that was foolproof, so that anyone at almost any skill level could complete even a complex DC electric installation with ease. And as part of it, remove fiddly quality-intensive tasks such as soldering, crimping and heat shrink. And replace them with a system that is as easy to complete as paint by numbers. Plug and play in a very literal sense. And because its not digital, both a 40 year old and a 12 year old can do it. Although the 12 year old might want also play a video game. It might be a tad too simple for them. There is nothing like this anywhere on our little blue planet.
The 'Egon', as the DC-Hub became known as then evolved into the DC-Hub Dual, competent at dealing with multiple batteries and chargers and even multiple voltages in one system.
The DC-Hub's success resulted in more ideas being developed as needs were identified. The EGON Relay-Hub is a similar concept as DC-Hub but with high-current switching enabled by automotive relays. And like DC-Hub, it uses commonly found fuses and now, relays, means that fault diagnostics is even easier, and components can be replaced without the need of special parts and tools. Game Changing Simplicity at work. And its the perfect companion to DC-Hub in more complex installations.
With all that working, it was time to simplify other elements of overland truck installations, the most obvious being, hot water in the kitchen and shower. Having a hot shower is nothing new in the bush, but installing an entire system in one's garage in an afternoon, was. That was until the invention of the EGON Water-Hub. Now think about this: As simple as cutting a slice of pizza, a system that makes the hot and cold water just the right temperature every time in an instant, potable and gray water intakes with contamination safeguards all combined in a single, simple unit. Simple is an understatement. It works with any water heater, uses common fittings and perfect for vans and even tiny homes that have no mains water supply. There is nothing like this anywhere on our little, now simpler blue planet.
Andrew and Heiner decided on the outset that they would build for quality first and are making outstanding products with the very best components they can find. Supporting local families is important to them so products are hand assembled in Western Australia. Components are sourced from around the world, most from Germany.
What now?
This industry is moving toward 48V systems and Egon is developing products not to complete with the painfully slow progress the industry is making toward 48V, but to lead it. They are building things no one has even thought of. Because they think, few people truly understand what the combination of LiFePO4 battery technology and 48V actually means. In a nutshell, four times the energy as 12V, but with one quarter the losses, weight and complexity. Egon is developing key ingredients to make 48V a reality - even for those who want to build rigs in their garages.

Q&A
Q: Why can't I find these products in the stores?
We decided that a product on a shelf without someone to explain it, would be pointless - because no EGON product can be easily categorised. For example, the DC-Hub can be viewed as a fuse box. And it is a fuse box. But its also a multiple input, output, multi-layered distribution board with a massive 150A capability, with self diagnostics running multiple size fuses - that is so easy to wire into an installations even a kid could do it. While it is a fuse box, it also isn't a fuse box. And that's the problem with retailing this product that most store owners would not understand. But anyone building a caravan, 4wd, camper or trailer will! And ditto the Dual, Water and Relay Hubs.
Q: You're in Australia. I'm not. How do I get some simplicity? This website store is owned by us. We will look after you and have provided heaps of installation guides and examples here, and on YouTube. And they are so easy to follow, because in truth, these products are so simple to install.
There is also hands-on supports from Heiner himself. Hard to believe that Heiner has the time. He does because he gets so few questions. And that is the point of making things simple.
There are a tons of Q&As that relate to website orders on that part of the website.
