EGON Water-Hub Installation Guide

The Egon Water-Hub is the legendary all-in-one, plug-and-play, hot and cold-water distribution system. Smart as the savviest of plumbers but simple as a straight line. Why? Because anyone can install it, plumber or plebeian. It’s perfectly designed for boats, caravans, 4WD and off-grid dwellings, running on an easy 12V power source (don’t plug it into the mains water supply). So, if you’re tired of DIY, install the Egon Water-Hub and spend more time adventuring.

EGON Water-Hub Installation Guide

What you will need to get started:

  • Spanner

  • Cable Cutters

  • Screwdrivers

  • Plumbing fittings - 3/8 BSP

  • Plumbing tape

Connection Points

Egon Water-Hub Rear Connectors

There are two external inputs into the system:

  • TANK: Drink water tank input, supplies tap outlet, shower outlet, and hot water unit.

  • EXT: External pickup input, supplies shower outlet and hot water unit.

A one-way valve keeps your clean drinking water separate from your grey water, preventing any greywater contamination into your drinking water circuit. However, water can be drawn from the drinking water circuit into the external pickup circuit through the water heater unit, if needed.

Water heater input and output:

  • HW OUT: Supplies cold water to your water heater.

  • HW IN: Receives hot water from your water heater and feeds it back into the system

The water heater input and outputs are connected to the external pickup circuit. This means that your drinking water outlet will only be cold, but your shower outlet coming from the external pickup circuit can be hot or cold with the mixing valve adjusted.

There are two external outlets:

  • TAP: Tap outlet, supplied by drink water tank only.

  • SHWR: Shower outlet, supplied by external pickup and water heater.

Tank Water Circuit supplies both the TAP and the SHWR outlet on the side of the Water-Hub.

External Water Circuit will only supply the SHWR outlet.

You can connect any water heater to HW IN and HW OUT. HW OUT is the cold water supply to the water heater and HW IN is the hot water supply from the water heater to the Water-Hub. The mixer valve on the side of the Water-Hub will automatically mix hot and cold water to supply at the desired water temperature to the SHWR outlet.

The External Pick Up hose connects on the other side to the port that is labelled EXT.

TANK is the connection from your drink water tank to the Water-Hub.

Installation

Mounting

The device has several mounting options; three holes in the bottom and three in the top that can be easily accessed by moving the hoses and connectors.

Electrics

  • Your Egon Water-Hub will need to be connected to a 12V power supply.

  • Mount the twin-switch harness to the casing or your own location to control which water source you’d like to pump from.

  • The external/grey water supply switch has a green LED light. The drinking water supply switch has a blue LED light. (Don’t get the two mixed up. Remember, you wouldn’t drink green water!)

Plumbing

(These use standard fittings that can be found anywhere! 3/8 BSP fittings)

  • Plumb up to two water source inputs: a clean drinking water tank and an alternative.

    • Drinking water tank to tank input (TANK)

    • Alternative/external water to external water input (EXT)

  • Plumb your water heater to the external water circuit (HW IN) and (HW OUT)

  • Connect a tap for clean drinking water to the tap outlet (TAP)

  • Connect an outlet or showerhead to the external water circuit (SHWR)

  • Then… that’s it, you’re done!

Plumbing Connections

All the fittings for the Egon Water-Hub are 3/8 BSP and can be easily found at most plumbing supply shops along with any other hose or tap/shower head attachments to complete your setup.

But, if you like the Egon Water-Hub (we have a sneaky suspicion that you’ll love it), then consider purchasing the optional Egon Water-Hub Hose Kit. It comes with:

  • Three quick-connect fittings that screw into the Water-Hub.

  • A water-efficient, easily stowable shower head and hose connector for enjoying the outdoors while smelling nice.

  • A tap connection and hose for washing or dispensing water.

  • An external pickup hose with a mesh filter for using external water sources in your Egon Water-Hub.
