48V Battery Overview

The EGON 48V Certified 105Ah LiFePO4 Battery is a 48V system battery designed for use within the EGON 48V architecture. This unit includes Bluetooth, data communications, active balancing, and communication cables.

Egon Certified batteries have been pre-balanced before delivery.

1. If you wish to instal the Egon 48V architecture while supplying your own battery, this is IMPORTANT. 
   
2. The 48V battery or battery bank needs to be able to accept a charge rate of 100A. If it can only accept a lower charge rate, then the system can be 'dialled back' to reduce the charge current rate.
3. In a new installation, pre balancing of the battery is VERY IMPORTANT. Pre-balance your battery by pre-charging to 100%, and then leave them turned on, but NOT connected for a minimum of 24 hours. This allows the internal BMS to balance and equalise all cells in that battery. Only then connect to the system and continue your installation.

Other slim-line (narrow) 48V Egon-compatible batteries are under development. 

Shipping & Availability

This product is currently available for Australian orders only. No international orders are available for Egon alternators or batteries. Apart from the these, a full 48V system can be ordered internationally. The battery must be 48V LifePO4 with a charge rate of 100A or more, and have suitable compatible communication protocols. Details below.

Alternative Battery Compatibility & Warranty Requirements

To maintain valid warranty coverage for your Egon 48V Hub installation, the system must be installed using either:

1. An Egon Certified Battery, or

2. A battery featuring an equivalent and fully compatible communication protocol to an Egon Certified Battery.

Why Active Communication Is Required

The Egon 48V architecture relies on active CAN bus communication to ensure optimal performance, safety, and diagnostic capabilities. Without compatible closed-loop communication, critical battery parameters—including cell-level monitoring, individual cell balance, and temperature control—cannot be monitored by the system.

Active CAN bus integration enables real-time fault detection and diagnostic alerts, which are displayed directly on the Cerbo GX screen in clear, plain-language text. This ensures system warnings or faults are immediately obvious to the user so corrective action can be taken before any system damage occurs.

Important: Failure to use an Egon Certified Battery or a battery with an equivalent communication protocol will void the manufacturer warranty on the Egon 48V Hub.
